Dr. Sheikh Faiyaz Jaffer
Dr. Sheikh Faiyaz Jaffer is the Executive Director for the Islamic Center and University Chaplain at New York University. He holds a doctorate in education from NYU, focusing on the identity development of Muslim communities in the United States, and has pursued classical Islamic studies at the Seminary of Karbala, Iraq. He lectures widely across the United States, Canada, Europe, East Africa, and the Middle East, and is regularly invited to lead faith-based programs, workshops, and educational sessions.
Dr. Sheikh Faiyaz is the co-founder of Pillars of Peace, a nonprofit supporting survivors of domestic and gender-based violence. In addition to his chaplaincy role, he serves as a Professor of Public Service at NYU’s Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service, where he teaches courses on Islamic Law and Islamic Spirituality, and is also a Visiting Professor at the Bayan Graduate School.
Sr. Layla Naji
Sr. Layla Naji has a Master’s degree in Psychology, with an emphasis on Marriage and Family Therapy. She is a mental health educator and public speaker, conducting many workshops on various Mental health and life skills topics. She has her own counseling and life coaching business and has been working with clients for over 12 years. Sr. Naji has been a Professor of Psychology at the University of La Verne and is also a Certified Positive Discipline Parent Educator.
